Saturday, June 26th, 2010

My 30th Birthday

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Today, June 25th 2010, is my 30th birthday. I am apart from home by thousands miles. I have not spent my birthday with my parents for five years, and theirs neither.

Mom and dad called me for celebration. I said thanks and happy in speaking but felt lonely, guilty and sad in my heart. Generally, as the same as my age in China, most people found up their family and mostly have kids. In a family day, parents, couples, children, three even four generations all are in a house, talking, laughing to share the happy as a clan. What a warm scene it is! But it does not happen to my family! That stays with my parents is only a cat. I can tell how lonely they are even if they never speak of.

Friday, June 18th, 2010

Oh my god!

IDENTIFICATION CARD

Friday, May 7th, 2010

Today, I receive my ID card. That it takes 23 days seems a long time but actually not. Time flies.

From now on, I can say to the other people, “我也是有身份~证的人了” This sentence cannot be translated into English. Because it is about the polysemy of identity and status in one Chinese word.

Whatever, it is a commemorable event.

Assemble the queen-size bed

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Today began with a jactitation.  Waking up 3 or 4 times a night, I did not know why.

At the class, Vicky told me she was worrying about the furniture in her new rented room. She bought a lot of furniture from IKEA whose products needed to be assembled by the customer himself. As a little girl, she could not know how to assemble. So I told her I could do her a favor. She was surprised by joy. We met at 2:30 after the grammar class, and we went to buy some necessary hardware. When I stepped into the new rented room, I was a little surprised by a great amount of the furniture. Two huge packages were laying in the middle of the antechamber. Many other packages were laying dispersedly around the room. It seemed that I would have a lot of work to do.

Vicky went to class, leaving me to handle them. She wanted to set up the bed first, so I found out the three packages. Honestly, they were so heavy that I moved them using all-out effort. Removing the  packing, putting the materials in an approximate place, I perspired insensibly. The next procedure was to locate the materials and turn the screws tight. It was a little difficult to handle a big piece of furniture for one man, but I have done it finally. When I dragged the 80 lbs mattress onto the bed, I used one and a half hour to complete assembling a queen-size bed.

When I was dealing with the sofa, Vicky came back from class. She bought me two pieces of pizza and a bottle of fresh fruit. That was very kind of her. I did not want to get any return. I just wanted to do something to keep my hands-on ability. I should appreciate Vicky gave the chance.

Je t’aime

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

I am extremely happy today. :D

First of all, I hanged out with Noémie to the Asian Art Museum. We took a picture outside the museum. This was the first picture for me and her being photoed together. Then, we visited the museum for two hours. I introduced some base background about Shanghai to her.

Secondly, we went to the China town and I buy her some dim sum, such as shrimp dumping, spring roll, chang fen, ternip pudding. She liked them very much.

Finally, I told her my feeling about her, "Je t’aime." She reacted with "Je t’aime."

White hair

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Looking into the mirror, I stared at some white hair on my head that was conspicuous among black one. What was a plaintful thing!

I decided to pull it out. Although it was difficult to move against the mirror, I had a hard time to clean away five strands of white hair.

I can’t imagine how when my head was occupied by white hair looks like.

ISA Pot Luck Dinner

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Tonight, ISSS held a dinner party. The dinner consisted of diverse culture foods.  That meant each food was from some culture all over the world. :P

I helped my friend Mary carry a bowl of braise beef to the dormitory, where the dinner would be hold.

Then, I helped Masaraa to prepare the Italian food: to cut the cheese, sliced meat, and the tough bread. It took me a lot of energy. If it had done by little Masaraa, it would be a hard job.
