Hahahahahaha…

I did a good job. But must keep going to the end. To earn five A grade with one honor.

I am very appreciated this midterm of Gen Business due to I wanna get an honor grade on it. One of the criteria is that the first two midterm must be 92% or more. That means I should make a big effort on this class.

As the same way as the Bank operation, instructor Susan gave us a view about the questions. I did the view just the same. Recording, listening, identifying, answering, reciting till 4am.

But Susan didn’t give us all the questions on the exam, so I got a few answer uncertain.

God bless me got a great score.

This semester I take five classes, and each of them has several midterms sooner or later.

The first midterm is the Principles of Bank Operation, which I don’t know much about and feel difficult in listening on class. But fortunately, the instructor gave us review last class. I recorded the lecture and listened it again and again, then did I extremely best to figure out every  question he mentioned. I did this decoding job for 3 hours. Finally, I got 42 questions. I recited them over and over again until 3am in the early morning.

When I stepped into the classroom, I was a little nervous. Once I got the exam paper, I calmed down. Thanks God, most of the questions were mentioned by the instructor. I finished it with 90% confidence.

Hope I can get a A grade.

Still got up early to go to the orientation.

Starting in Smith Hall a commodious chamber, the meeting had over 180 student audience. Some counselors spoke lot of info that I couldn’t remember. –_-!

It was good that they supplied lunch for free. LOL. I ate half of a ham sandwich and took the other half home for dinner.

I knew a guy from Shanghai, whose name was Tang Da who used to a musical student and turned to business major. He was funny and I hoped I could meet him on some class.

To go for the placement test, I got up very early, 0630. With a feeling of drowsiness, I took the test from 0830 to 1300.

The test was made up of two parts. One was English test and the other was Math test.

And the English test was made up of three parts then: Listening, Grammar + Reading, Writing. I, not unexpectedly, was good at G + R and Writing but bad at Listening. How could I improve my poor ear? Did the watching of English movies not work at work? OK, then. I will try the aural dictation way next week.

The writing topic was asking that what would you do to serve your community and why. I talked I wanted to be a cleaner and helper. My essay was just about 130 words. I worried it was too short to satisfy the exam standard, but I was nothing more to talk about the topic. I had declared what I thought.

Finally complete reciting the whole TOEFL words arduously!

There are 3139 words on the TOEFL words book.  Not too many, but still be a tough task to achieve.

I commenced the first attempt in Jan and recited List 1 – 30. After that, I went for the ESL classes and could not keep doing the job. I started again when the ESL finished in May.

I made a plan for reciting all the lists. But when I finished the new List 31 – 50, I dropped the plan because of some downcast affair. Sleeping, playing games, watching movies, I degenerated for a long time until my 30th birthday on June 25. That day, I made a promise that I must comprehend I have not time to waste and I must do what I should do or living the rest life with nothing!

Although I had not prepared all the materials needed, I had to go to apply the CCSF. Or I would miss the deadline and had trouble on my F1 VISA.

It was easy to go there. Taking the line 49 bus, 15 minutes later, I arrived the CCSF. Easily found the admission room, I took a queue for international students. Fortunately, the personnel could speak Chinese. I gave him all the materials and told him I could not get the Financial Certificate. He suggested I could open a file and send them the certificate later. For there was not a better way, I sent my application.

I hope there had enough room for the finance certificate and I could get a financial certificate in time.

Oh my god!

Today is the final day in the whole ESL program, and the only thing we need to do is the TOEFL exam.

At the beginning, the listening part, there was a little problem. The computer did not work. Pro Dennis came in and handled it for quite a while. It made us about 15 minutes late and a little anxious.

A happy day with my conversation partner

To improve my oral communication skill, I joined the Conversation Partner Program. My conversation Partner David is a tall brown-hair guy. He is teaching Ethic classes in USF. We have met several times and we decided to hang out for a field trip.

Today, David came to my home and picked me up with his White TOYOTA SUV. I do not know what the model of the car is, but I like this type of cars, full of power and good capacity. David drove me to the little China Town – Clement. He was a little surprised that I had not been there before.

It was a clear and sunny day. When we walked on the street, David introduced the stores and restaurants to me, and kept asking the same question “How to say xxx in Chinese?” If I knew the word he was talking about, I would teach his with Chinese PinYin and different tones. If I did not know the word, he would try to explain it in other words so that I could get the point. It was good for both of us. I was learning English and David was learning Chinese. In my opinion, his level of Chinese was pretty good for a new learner.

In a Chinese style supermarket, David showed me the rice cooker that he bought not long ago. I asked him how Americans cooked rice without a rice cooker. He said they would use a pot, and put rice and water in it, then close the lid. It seems as easy as using a rice cooker. However, it is trouble that it needs people to watch the pot time to time to prevent it from being boiled away. But fortunately, American does not eat rice as Chinese does.

At last, we went into a Dim Sum store. We ordered some kinds of Dim Sum. It was delicious and was not as expensive as in the big China Town. David enjoyed them very much.

Thanks to David to let me know such a good place. I would come back here another time.
