大、小公司里的个人贡献如何精确测量?

看完这篇节选译文后,有种感觉。(其实原文是一个seed funding VC写的关于创业方面的文章,说的挺有道理。它的网站:http://ycombinator.com/index.html

不扯远了。在社会工作中,似乎有这么一种矛盾的想法:雇主希望能精确测量每个雇员的贡献值,以厘定个人的奖惩,即公平又经济(假设雇主的每项改进都是为了直接或间接地降低成本)。而雇员对此想法可能分化出不同的群体:精英群体自然叫好,平庸群体自然抗拒。

不知道有没有管理学大师说过:管理不可能做到精确得像精工表一样,巨细无遗分秒不差。这里说的不可能,到底是指没有合适的方法进行实施,还是出于人际关系的平衡而做的让步妥协,我估计这两个因素都存在。但个人估计就算前者已经被完美解决掉了,企业主管理者可以非常精确地给下属评定业绩功过了,也会因为后者的关系进行“本地化”妥协。

想到这里,又冒出另一个疑问:企业中的“妥协”对企业的影响如何?另起题目研究吧。

大公司最大的困扰,就是无法准确测量每个员工的贡献。它会把所有人的贡献平均化。

在大公司中,你只要一般性地努力工作,就能得到意料之中的薪水。你不能明显的无能或懒惰,但是谁也没觉得你会把全部精力投入工作。

你不能对老板说,我打算十倍努力地工作,请你把我的薪水也增加十倍吧!因为公司已经假定你在全力工作了,而且更重要的是,实际上,公司无法测量你的贡献。

假设有一家公司制造某种消费品,工程师为它做出各种功能,设计师为它设计一个漂亮的外壳,营销人员让顾客相信这是值得拥有的商品。请问如何评价每个人对这个商品销售额的贡献?

还有,上一代产品的工作人员,为这个公司树立了质量可靠的形象,请问最新产品的销售额有多少应该归功于他们?

根本没有办法把所有人的贡献一一分解清楚。

你想更努力地工作,但是你的工作与其他许多人的工作混杂在一起,这就产生了问题。在大公司中,个人的表现无法单独测量,公司里其他人会拖累你。

销售员是一个例外。他们产生的收入,很容易测量,他们的薪水往往是销售额的一个百分比。如果一个销售员想更努力地工作,他马上就可以这样做,并且自动按比例得到更多的报酬。

此外,还有一个职位是可以测量的,那就是高级的管理职位,他们对整家公司的表现负责。高级经理就像销售员一样,不得不用数字证明自己。一个表现糟糕的CEO,是不能推托说自己已经尽了全力。如果公司的表现不好,就是他的表现不好。

不幸的是,公司不可能对每个人都像销售员那样付薪。销售员是单独工作的,大多数雇员则是集体工作。

What is the probability of transporting service?

The idea is coming from two concepts. One is the definition of “Service” and the other is the new technology of “Distance learning”or “E-learning”.

If service can be delivered to other place rather than the place where it is provided, we will take a good advantage of it to improve service level and productivity.

Today is lunar new year for Chinese people and some other Asian countries, such Vietnam and Korea.

It is the second lunar new year which I don’t spend with my parents. I miss them very much. Wish they healthy and happy all the time. And wish myself make excellent at education and admitted by famous university.

“B2B review” platform

We have lots of C2B/C2C review website, such as YELP and Linkedin(in some part), and have similar I2B(Institution to Business) platform, for instance, Consumer Report, but we don’t have a really “B2B review” platform, at least, in my view.

I can do some research to see whether there is a B2B platform. Then take further action, say, differentiation or creation.

“Anti-counterfeiting”

Counterfeiting has been being a serious problem in many cultures, especially in recent online decades. How to anti it?

Many technologies have been invented to deal with the issue, but they are mostly used for business not individuals.

Well, I get stuck here. What is the benefit by using anti-counterfeiting for individuals? It seems no necessary for people to do so. What do people need to protect? How to do so? No idea“`Let me set it aside. Maybe I will strike an insight some day.

Textbooks return to papa

My books come back! Maybe God bless me indeed.

When I worried about my books, and didn’t receive response email, I got two missed call in my cell phone. Thinking that maybe the call from local UPS, I called back. To my surprise, it was someone who received my books and she wanted to give them back to me.

Her name is Bali. She said she got the package at the front door yesterday, and noticed it was delivered mistakenly. Fortunately, there was a label with my name and phone number on the package, so she called me.

Where were my textbooks?!

The spring semester began on Tuesday, two days ago. I had been waiting for my two textbooks with over 150 bucks.

Today, the books should be delivered to me , but all I got was air. I couldn’t wait anymore, so I checked the track number through the UPS, and it was indicating the package had been delivered at the mid noon. I was so surprised that how dare the damn UPS saying so.

That was 150 bucks! What I thought was to contact UPS immediately. The phone should be the most directly way to get it. So I dialed the 800 number:1-800-PICK-UPS (742-5877). (This was the first time I dialed an alphabetic phone number. Before that, I had not known how to dial the letter on a telephone. At least, I learnt a little from this event.)

人的寿命应该能达到100 至175 岁,为什么都没有达到呢?最主要一个原因就是我们不重视保健,不懂得保健的知识。很多人死于无知,这很冤枉啊!
大家知道怎么保健吗?国际上有个维多利亚宣言,宣言里有三个里程碑:

第一个叫平衡饮食,第二个叫有氧运动,第三个叫心理状态。

这三个里程碑,国际上都知道,而我们很多人不清楚。三个里程碑的标题不会变,但内容会随时改变。

下面我讲第一个问题,平衡饮食。所谓平衡饮食,有饮和食两大类。

国际会议上提出了六种保健品:第一绿茶;第二红葡萄酒;第三豆浆;第四酸奶——你注意啦:人家不提牛奶;第五骨头汤;第六蘑菇汤。

We lost our Yumi

Jan 13, 2011, 15:20, we lost our Yumi forever.

Staying with us for nine years, guarding the house day and night, bringing lots of joys to us, she has gone calmly and rest in peace now.
