a bad lucky trip to school

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I usually go to school by bus. First, I ride the line 24 from Cortland to Eddy. Then I transfer to the line 31 from Eddy to Chabot where the gate of USF locates.

This morning, the 24 bus had been late for 10 minutes. When I got on the bus and it just went forward 50 meters, the driver let all the passengers transfer to another 24 bus parking by the way for a long time. That made me another 5 minutes later than usual. More badly, at the next stop, there were 20 little kids getting up the bus, noising like a fowl market.

When I transferred to 31 bus, it dropped its electrical wire so the driver needed to get off the bus to fix the problem.

What I suffered today made me 20 minutes later than usual. What a bad lucky day!

“EMERGENCY” on a bus

Friday, February 5th, 2010

I just wrote about the 31 bus flashing “EMERGENCY” last night. It is unexpected that the same thing happens to the 14 bus which I am ridding.

For attempting another kind of experience, I take the 14 bus home today. It goes along the Mission St from the beginning to the end. When it arrives the bus stop at Mission St & 25th St. Here come up a bunch of hippies boys, wearing some kind of collapse crotch pants, white and black T-shirts, jackets. Although they talk loudly, I can not understand totally with the unfamiliar tone and content. I am sure they are not speaking English, may be Spanish. As they have dusky skin and wavy black hair, they seem like Mexican.

Since they get on, the bus just goes one stop, and stops for a while. Two police come up. Maybe the bus is flashing “EMERGENCY” outside, I think.

It is strange that the two police are wear helmets, which are not the battle helmets but the bicycle helmets. They go straight to the end of the bus where that guys standing. They say something to one person, who shows some certificates to the police. They look at the certificates and keep speaking, meanwhile, the bus starts to go. The other people of the guys look nervous obviously, and get off the bus hastily when the bus stops at the next stop, leaving the person whom is interrogated by the police.

When the bus goes through a few stops, the police take the person get off the bus. I just understand what the police wear bicycle helmets until they go to front of the bus to pick up bicycles.

This is the first time I see police on the bicycle in the United States.

Travel by the bus

Friday, December 18th, 2009

My aunt rests today. She gives me the Muni Pass to let me take a free bus trip.

I visit the online website (http://www.sfmta.com/cms/home/sfmta.php) to check some information. I want to go to the USF and test the travel time. In the website, you can type your start point and end point to make the trip plan on a map. It’s easy to use if you know the  name of the location where you live and go.

OK. Let’s do it.

Start:
Mission St & Highland Ave, San Francisco

End:
University of San Francisco, San Francisco

After setting up the S&E points, there are some plans for you to choose. I choose a straight path showing on the map.
