Assemble the queen-size bed

Today began with a jactitation.  Waking up 3 or 4 times a night, I did not know why.

At the class, Vicky told me she was worrying about the furniture in her new rented room. She bought a lot of furniture from IKEA whose products needed to be assembled by the customer himself. As a little girl, she could not know how to assemble. So I told her I could do her a favor. She was surprised by joy. We met at 2:30 after the grammar class, and we went to buy some necessary hardware. When I stepped into the new rented room, I was a little surprised by a great amount of the furniture. Two huge packages were laying in the middle of the antechamber. Many other packages were laying dispersedly around the room. It seemed that I would have a lot of work to do.

Vicky went to class, leaving me to handle them. She wanted to set up the bed first, so I found out the three packages. Honestly, they were so heavy that I moved them using all-out effort. Removing the  packing, putting the materials in an approximate place, I perspired insensibly. The next procedure was to locate the materials and turn the screws tight. It was a little difficult to handle a big piece of furniture for one man, but I have done it finally. When I dragged the 80 lbs mattress onto the bed, I used one and a half hour to complete assembling a queen-size bed.

When I was dealing with the sofa, Vicky came back from class. She bought me two pieces of pizza and a bottle of fresh fruit. That was very kind of her. I did not want to get any return. I just wanted to do something to keep my hands-on ability. I should appreciate Vicky gave the chance.

To continue the work yesterday,  I borrow a hammer to drive nails. It’s the back of the chest where need to be nailed. It is more difficult to say (in English) than to do. Just ten minutes, I nail the back.

assemble the three drawers next. Because there are several parts need to be nailed, drilled, and  installed, I spend some time on them.

Finally, it takes three hours in total to assemble the whole chest. The picture below is my achievement. :D

It looks good, fitting the pink blue decoration.

Steven shows me a sale news on IKEA today. There is a 3-drawer chest on sale at half prize (the picture below). It’s a great news. The chest is the type exactly what I need. So, we change the golfing plan to go to IEKA for the chest.

As an OTAKU (home boy), I LOVE IKEA! The IKEA Beijing Branch is one of the places I most love to go. It is a sweet moment when I stroll in IKEA. Although I spent over five thousands on many pieces of light  furniture and dropped them when I left Beijing,  I can’t stop buying new things when I move to a new place.
